Develop a prototype of a sychronous online Communicationplatform

Abstract

The use of online communication platforms is subject to many difficulties. Some platforms offer more or less poor usability and a confusing design of the user interfaces. The main reason for this research was the COVID19 situation. The resulting communication platforms, or those that were already known and revised, were used too quickly for teaching purposes. Because of the worldwide lock-down situation and the resulting home office and schooling, this test phase was insufficiently carried out or was left out. The end result was poorly performing, ill-conceived user interfaces with the potential for conflict. The problems affect those user groups who use these platforms for school, study, work or private. During our research, the communication platforms MS Teams, Zoom, BigBlueButton and Skype were analyzed in detail. A questionnaire was created to show relevant data. This includes questions about the use of these platforms as well as memory questions in order to better understand the intuitive behavior of the user. Based on the analysis of the evaluated survey and the card sorting, we were able to gain clear connections, matches and new terms. As a result, we are presenting a prototype of a new synchronous online communication platform. This is called Ezey because we want to make it as easy as possible for users to use. With our prototype of a synchronous online communication platform, we combine clarity, functionality and speed.
