How can graphic design help to enable more interim use in Graz?

In the urban space of Graz there are many unused spaces that could be used for temporary activities such as pop-up stores, art installations or social projects. Although the city of Graz has already done a lot to combat vacancy, this commitment has increasingly flattened out over the last five years. For this reason, it is now time to get creative. With the help of design, the aim is to get civil society to pay more attention to this problem again. On the other hand, art and culture professionals should also be given more opportunities to use interim use creatively. First, the role that graphic design has historically played in this process will be discussed and what functions are important today. Based on this, concrete starting points for a successful mobilisation campaign will be developed.
