Do you really think you're beautiful? Your face is hella unsymmetrical bro. Check out this video.
The question of whether facial symmetry plays a decisive role in perceived attractiveness is far from being a new one. Many studies already suggest that the broad masses prefer symmetrical faces. In recent years, however, new studies have increasingly observed the opposite. In the first part of our paper, we analyse and compare some studies and get an overview of the current consensus. To investigate the effects of facial symmetry on perceived attractiveness itself, we created a survey in which several faces were to be evaluated. The faces were digitally manipulated to show a variation of symmetrical and asymmetrical faces. In doing so, the faces vary only slightly from each other. The subtle differences are intended to prevent personal opinions from influencing the survey.
