Visual Workshop - Lecture: [mo:ya] collective
FH Joanneum Informationsdesign - Studio, Zi308, 3.OG
It was a sunny day in May 2011 when two Austrian guys decided to create live visuals at a university party. Within some caffeine powered nights, they somehow figured out how to steal and use VJ software and connect multiple laptops with video mixers, projectors and large hadron colliders. After the night of their first performance both guys were still stoked enough to found the [mo:ya] collective. In case you are wondering, the name derivates from the korean idiom "뭐야!?" which is used to express astonishment. Anyways, after quite a few performances during summer, for example at the well known Springfestival in Graz or the Sun And Bass Festival on the island of Sardinia, the collective run up to six members. All of them are current students of Informationdesign at the University Of Applied Sciences in Graz. Besides that, they share a passion for motion graphics, interaction, distortions and the occult.
